12/30/07  Boralex Power Income Fund

Sounds like a good value/income play from Roger Conrad.  As mentioned in
posts below (see prior dates), I think these type of stocks (income plays with
high yields) are attractive given the volatile market environment behind
investors and in front of investors in my opinion.  This one trades on the pink
sheets under name BORALEX PWR INC FD (BLXJF.PK) and the Toronto
Exchange under the name BORALEX POWER INCO SBI NPV and ticker
BPT-UN.TO (this one is a good candidate to buy through E*Trades new global
trading or Schwab's global desk).

12/02/07  Mutual Fund Recommendation.

Everyone knows about the upcoming baby-boomers retiring.  In this light, a
healthcare fund seems like a good recommendation.  One that stands out is
T. Rowe Price Health Sciences (PRHSX).  This fund managed by Kris Jenner
invests in large-cap pharma as well as biotech.  As of 11/30/07, it has returned
18% YTD, 16% annually over the past three years, and 17% over the past five
years.

11/29/07  Interactive Brokers (IBKR).  Good article from Steven
Sears at Barrons.

11/25/07 Yet More Dividend Plays

GateHouse Media (GHS).  This is a Morningstar 5-Star stocked that is majority
owned by Fortress (the publicly traded hedge fund and private equity
mega-house).

International Plays Lloyds (LYG) and Barclays (BCS) both yield near 7%.

11/21/07 Some More Dividend Plays

With the volatility in the market (the S&P is barely up as of this writing)
dividend stocks continue to make sense to me.  The following are a couple
that caught my attention today:

PWE - The biggest Canadian royalty trust now yields 15%!
Linn Energy (LINE) - U.S. Limited Partnership yields 9%

And on the banking side...it may be too early but sometime soon the quality
names will be worth holding.   A couple that caught my eye:

Bank of America (BAC) - Largest US Bank with comparatively little mortgage
exposure now yields 6%.
Wells Fargo (WFC) - Conservatively Managed US Bank Now Yields 4.10%.
BB&T Corp (BBT) - Super Regional headquartered in North Carolina.

11/18/07 Dividend Plays

With the volatility in the market, investors might be interested in some
dividend plays as these companies usually hold up better.  I have attached
some articles below that focusing on finding companies with a dividend yield.
Of particular interest to me are some of the Canadian Royalty Trusts.  These
companies pay their dividends in Canadian dollars based on a royalty stream
from their underlying assets (usually oil and natural gas fields).  Since the
value of the "loonie" has appreciated so much, the dividends are high.  An
interesting play here in my opinion.

10/12/07 Small Caps in Focus at Morningstar

I subscribe to Morningstar's Premium website, and it is a great resource.
Last week, they profiled some stocks that their favorite small cap managers
were buying.  Additionally, these stocks had a discount to fair value on
average of 40%.  As always, please do your own due diligence, but the
symbols are as follows:

ARP  Approximate Price to Fair Value .64
CRI    Approximate Price to Fair Value .65
XEC  Approximate Price to Fair Value .59
NCI    Approximate Price to Fair Value  .50
WLL  Approximate Price to Fair Value  .74

Check back later for some more in-depth research and charts as I investigate
these names.
